Dual-Function MR-Guided Hyperthermia: An Innovative Integrated Approach and Experimental Demonstration of Proof of Principle

Kemal Sumser et al.

Summary: Temperature monitoring is crucial in adjuvant hyperthermia treatment, and magnetic resonance thermometry has potential for treatment monitoring. However, proposed solutions have been sub-optimal due to technological and intrinsic limitations, hindering target conformal heating and accurate thermometry. An integrated dual-function hyperthermia approach based on a coil array showed improved accuracy in thermometry and compliance with superficial hyperthermia guidelines.
