Simulating warmer and drier climate increases root production but decreases root decomposition in an alpine grassland on the Tibetan plateau

Huiying Liu et al.

Summary: The study found that root production and decomposition responded differently to temperature and precipitation changes. Dry and warming treatments increased root production, while wet treatments had little effect. However, root decomposition accelerated with increasing precipitation, and warming tended to decrease decomposition under dry conditions. This suggests that future changes in precipitation may have contrasting effects on root carbon accumulation in Tibetan grasslands.
