Acute effects of body-weight resistance exercises on blood pressure and glycemia in middle-aged adults with hypertension

Rodrigo Ferrari et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the acute effects of a single session of body-weight resistance exercises on blood pressure and glycemia in middle-aged adults with hypertension. Results showed a significant decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure after the body-weight resistance exercise, but no significant effects on blood glucose levels. This alternative form of resistance training could improve access, adherence, and reduce health costs related to exercise programs.

Hemodynamic responses of resistance exercise performed with repetitions to failure and not to failure in adults with hypertension

Summary: The study found that resistance exercise with repetitions not to failure and repetitions to failure are both equally effective in promoting post-exercise hypotension. Repetitions not to failure sessions can reduce cardiovascular demand during exercise.
