Does Internet use reduce chemical fertilizer use? Evidence from rural households in China

Fang Yuan et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of Internet use on chemical fertilizer use in developing economies using a nationwide dataset from 7766 rural households in China. The results show that Internet use reduces chemical fertilizer use by increasing farmers' human capital. Additionally, Internet promotion policy can also help reduce farmers' reliance on chemical fertilizers.

Urban carbon emission intensity under emission trading system in a developing economy: evidence from 273 Chinese cities

Kai Tang et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of China's pilot carbon trading markets on cities' carbon intensity, finding that the emission trading system significantly decreased carbon intensity in pilot cities and the reduction effect increased over time. The system achieved this through increasing the proportion of tertiary industry output value in GDP and decreasing energy intensity.

Abatement potential and cost of agricultural greenhouse gases in Australian dryland farming system

Kai Tang et al.

Summary: The study shows that the dryland agricultural sector has the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, with relatively low costs. This can help save agricultural inputs and contribute to cost-effective mitigation efforts.

Green research and development activities and SO2 intensity: an analysis for China

Yuee Tang et al.

Summary: The study suggests that green R&D activities are instrumental in reducing SO2 intensity, but different green R&D activities have distinct economic consequences. Regional differences and technology's adsorptive ability play significant roles in determining the effects of green R&D activities on SO2 intensity.

The effectiveness and heterogeneity of carbon emissions trading scheme in China

Kai Tang et al.

Summary: This paper evaluates the effectiveness and heterogeneity of China's pilot ETS, the first of its kind in a developing economy. The results show that the pilot ETS effectively reduces carbon emissions in pilot industries, with substantial heterogeneity in effects across different provinces and industries. The reduction in emissions is attributed to technological innovation and industrial restructuring. Policy implications include considering a national ETS and differentiated carbon quotas for different regions and industries.

Does fiscal decentralization andeco-innovationpromote sustainable environment? A case study of selected fiscally decentralized countries

Xiangfeng Ji et al.

Summary: This study shows that fiscal decentralization can help reduce CO(2) emissions and improve the environment. Additionally, an increase in GDP, eco-innovation, and renewable energy usage can also contribute to lowering CO(2) emissions. The study recommends that policies targeting green growth, fiscal decentralization, GDP, eco-innovation, and renewable energy will have a long-term impact.

Does foreign direct investment promote environmental efficiency in developing economies? Evidence from Economic Community of West African States

Olabanji B. Awodumi

Summary: The study indicates that foreign direct investment has a negative impact on environmental efficiency in ECOWAS countries, except for short-term promotion in Sierra Leone. Energy intensity has a significant negative effect on environmental efficiency, and energy-efficient technology enhances this efficiency.
