The role of debt financing in the relationship between capital structure, firm?s value, and macroeconomic factors: To throw caution to the wind

Misbah Sadiq et al.

Summary: This study examines the relationship between capital structure, firms' performance, and market imperfections using data from 56 stock exchange-listed companies in Jordan from 2012 to 2016. The results support the stewardship theory, pecking order theory, and concentrated ownership theory. Monetary instruments play a role in diffusing the recessionary phase in a country. The findings reveal a U-shaped relationship between debt and Tobin's Q when considering the country's per capita income as a mediator. On the other hand, an inverted U-shaped relationship is found between market capitalization and a firm's performance when considering the intervention of domestic credit provided by the financial sector.

Assessing the socio-economic viability of solar commercialization and electrification in south Asian countries

Huaping Sun et al.

Summary: Solar power is a promising alternative energy source for developing countries in Asia, particularly in South Asian countries, with sufficient solar irradiance for power production. The study in Sindh Province, Pakistan, highlights the economic viability of off-grid solar photovoltaic systems, which can provide electricity at a lower cost compared to traditional energy sources while reducing CO2 emissions. The implementation of off-grid solar energy systems can provide a renewable roadmap for energy in South Asian countries and remote regions.
