Catalysts with single metal atoms for the hydrogen production from formic acid

Dmitri A. Bulushev et al.

Summary: Formic acid can be used as a hydrogen donor in hydrogen production and transfer reactions catalyzed by metal and metal-complex catalysts. This review highlights the potential of heterogeneous catalysts with single metal atoms stabilized by pyridinic nitrogen atoms on the edge or vacancy sites of graphene sheets. Understanding the nature and coordination of single-atom active sites is crucial for enhancing the performance of catalysts in these reactions, with the aim of developing novel and efficient catalysts.
