Summary: Haemorrhoidal Disease (HD) is a common anal disorder with controversial etiology and pathophysiology, characterized by the enlargement and/or sliding of haemorrhoidal tissue causing symptoms and complications. Goligher's classification remains the most widely used, and thorough patient history and examination are crucial for diagnosis. Further studies are needed for a better understanding of the disease.
