Fast Marching Method for Microseismic Source Location in Cavern-Containing Rockmass: Performance Analysis and Engineering Application

Ruochen Jiang et al.

Summary: This study developed a microseismic (MS) location method using the fast marching method (FMM) and a second-order difference approach, which was validated through numerical experiments and successfully applied to locate blasting activities and MS events. The method significantly reduced location errors, providing a more accurate rock fracture location.

Numerical simulation of rockfalls colliding with a gravel cushion with varying thicknesses and particle sizes

Chun Zhu et al.

Summary: The thickness and particle size of a gravel cushion have a significant impact on the response between rockfall and cushion. Decreasing cushion thickness only reduces impact force on the cushion bottom, while decreasing particle size can reduce impact forces on both the cushion surface and bottom. The penetration depth is greatly influenced by the particle size of the cushion. Impacts forces increase with rockfall height, with the increase rate on the cushion surface higher than that on the cushion bottom.

A physical modeling-based study on the control mechanisms of Negative Poisson's ratio anchor cable on the stratified toppling deformation of anti-inclined slopes

Zhigang Tao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the mechanisms governing instability failure of anti-inclined slopes reinforced with NPR anchor cables, and obtains the evolution process of key parameters through physical model experiments. Furthermore, it proves that NPR anchor cables can be used to monitor the sliding force of anti-inclined slopes, laying a foundation for advanced instability warning technology.

Investigation on the effect of freeze-thaw on fracture mode classification in marble subjected to multi-level cyclic loads

Y. Wang et al.

Summary: Research on rock engineering in cold regions indicates that the type of crack can be classified based on RA and AF data set, with a decrease in the proportion of tensile cracks and an increase in shear/mixed cracks as freeze-thaw cycles increase. Additionally, b-value analysis reveals damage propagation at different cyclic levels, with a minimum b-value observed at the last cyclic level. Post-test CT scanning shows a complex crack network forming with low freeze-thaw treatment, and the scale of tensile cracks decreasing as freeze-thaw cycles increase.
