Using the COM-B model to identify barriers and facilitators towards adoption of a diet associated with cognitive function (MIND diet)

Deirdre Timlin et al.

Summary: This qualitative study aimed to identify components of the COM-B model that influence dietary behavior in 40-55-year-olds in the UK. The main perceived barriers to adopting the MIND diet were time, work environment, taste preferences, and convenience, while the main perceived facilitators included improved health, memory, planning and organization, and access to good quality food. Future interventions targeting capability, opportunity, and motivation may be beneficial in promoting healthy dietary changes.
