Bio-methane production from tomato pomace: preliminary evaluation of process intensification through ultrasound pre-treatment

Francesca Girotto et al.

Summary: The study showed that pre-treatment of tomato pomace with ultrasound at 152μm amplitude for 15 minutes significantly increased the speed and yield of methane production. However, the high electricity consumption needed for ultrasonication may limit the economic feasibility of the process, and further evaluation is needed to assess its energy efficiency.
