Measurement of the open magnetic flux in the inner heliosphere down to 0.13 AU

Samuel T. Badman et al.

Summary: Interpreting spacecraft data of the heliospheric magnetic field is critical for understanding the heliosphere's large scale structure. The heliospheric flux is expected to be spatially conserved with a potential secular dependence on the solar cycle. Measurements of the heliospheric flux indicate an open flux problem. This study attempts to provide a more robust estimate of the heliospheric magnetic flux and compares it to estimates from PFSS models.
