This study establishes fully coupled equations based on a Biot-type model to describe the dynamic response of multilayered unsaturated media. The Hankel transform is used to convert partial differential equations into ordinary differential equations, which are then solved using numerical methods. The results demonstrate the significance of dynamic shear modulus, saturation degree, and stratification in influencing the dynamic response of unsaturated media.
Based on a Biot-type model, the fully coupled equations considering the effect of dynamic parameters and capillary pressure are established to describe the axisymmetric steadystate dynamic response of multilayered unsaturated media. The Hankel transform is applied to convert these partial differential equations into a set of ordinary differential equations. According to the boundary conditions and continuity conditions, these equations are assembled and solved by means of the combination of the extended precise integration method and the Hankel inversion transform. After demonstrating the feasibility and accuracy of proposed method by three verification examples, four numerical examples reveal that the dynamic shear modulus, saturation degree and stratification are three crucial factors which influence the dynamic response of unsaturated media whilst the intrinsic permeability has a slight impact on it.
