Comparative of alkaline hydrogen peroxide pretreatment using NaOH and Ca(OH)2 and their effects on enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation steps

Summary: This study found that alkaline hydrogen peroxide pretreatment using NaOH can significantly increase cellulose and holocellulose content of the substrate, as well as the yield of bioethanol production through enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation. In terms of alkaline reagent selection, NaOH is more effective than Ca(OH)2.

Summary: The study focuses on converting low-cost lignocellulosic biomass waste, sugarcane bagasse, into bioethanol and biohydrogen using thermophilic cellulolytic bacterium Clostridium thermocellum. Optimization of fermentation factors resulted in efficient production of ethanol and hydrogen, demonstrating the sustainability of using agricultural waste for energy production.

Summary: The study demonstrated that chemically modified sugarcane bagasse cellulose has high removal efficiency for Cr(VI) in aqueous solutions, reaching nearly 100% removal after 180 minutes. The adsorption process of CST for Cr(VI) fits well with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir isotherm model.
