Stress and number of servings of fruit and vegetables consumed: Buffering effects of monetary incentives

Casey K. Gardiner et al.

Summary: The studies showed that higher daily stress was associated with lower consumption of fruits and vegetables, but this relationship was weakened among participants who received incentives. Additionally, the negative effect of time on consumption was only significant for participants who did not receive incentives. Overall, incentives may be a novel method to mitigate the impact of daily stress on maintaining a healthy diet.
