Skeleton Engineering of Isostructural 2D Covalent Organic Frameworks: Orthoquinone Redox-Active Sites Enhanced Energy Storage

Summary: The integration of redox-active sites into the skeleton of open-framework materials results in high-performance organic electrodes for energy storage devices. The stepwise introduction of ketone groups into the skeletons of isostructural 2D COFs allows for precise control of redox functionalities, leading to superior capacitances and rate capabilities. The orthoquinone moieties in KT-Tp COFs demonstrate enhanced performance compared to COFs with isolated carbonyl groups, showing exceptional capacitance retention even after high cycles.
