On Efficient Surrogate Model Development for the Prediction of the Long-Term Extreme Response of a Moored Floating Structure

Summary: This study focuses on developing efficient surrogate models using PCE for predicting long-term extreme surge motion of a moored floating offshore structure. The uncertainty in the response arises from contrasting sea state conditions and random amplitudes and phases of the wave train, treated efficiently in the uncertainty quantification framework. Importance sampling is employed to reduce uncertainty in response extremes resulting from sea states with low likelihood of occurrence.
