Seasonal and interannual variability of the Queen Maud Gulf ecosystem derived from sediment trap measurements

Thibaud Dezutter et al.

Summary: The study conducted in Queen Maud Gulf over three years revealed significant seasonal and interannual variability in total particulate matter and microalgal fluxes. The sustained abundance of pelagic copepods and meroplankton indicates a productive marine ecosystem capable of supporting year-round development of various communities. Elevated autumn particulate matter and organic carbon fluxes were attributed to wind-induced mixing and resuspension when sea ice cover was absent.
