OsFD4 promotes the rice floral transition via florigen activation complex formation in the shoot apical meristem

Martina Cerise et al.

Summary: Researchers have identified OsFD4 as a component of a FAC that promotes flowering at the shoot apical meristem, downstream of OsFD1. Different bZIP proteins orchestrate floral induction at the meristem, and FAC formation is largely combinatorial. Through protein-protein interactions and DNA-binding studies, it is shown that the bZIP proteins have discriminatory functions despite binding to the same consensus motif.
