Five new diterpenoids, jatrophadiketone A (1), 18-hydroxyjatrophadiketone (2), 2-epi-macroripremyrsinone A (3), 7-hydroxyjatropholone A (4), and 7-hydroxyjatropholone B (5), together with seventeen known diterpenoids were isolated from the roots of Jatropha curcas. The structures were identified by extensive spectroscopic analysis. Compounds (1-5) showed neither cytotoxicity against PC-3 human tumor cell line nor inhibition against LPS-induced NO production in a macrophage cell line RAW264.7 at 20 mu M.
