Child Abuse in Natural Disasters and Conflicts: A Systematic Review

Hamed Seddighi et al.

Summary: Violence against children, especially during emergencies and natural disasters, is exacerbated by weakened child protection systems and social and economic pressures faced by families. The reported rate of violence is lower than the actual rate in emergency situations due to lack of necessary infrastructure and reporting mechanisms. Predictors of increased violence include history of exposure to violence, parental substance abuse, poverty, and child labor.
