The review article summarizes the analytical applications of LDHs-based nanozymes, which are classified into five categories based on their structures. These nanozymes are used for optical sensing of various analytes and the review hopes to inspire broader interests and stimulate further research in this field.
Nanomaterials with the intrinsic enzyme-like activity, known as nanozyme, have received increasing attention over the last decade. Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) as inorganic nanomaterials are one of the promising candidates for usage as nanozyme due to their unique properties such as high catalytic activity, tunable composition, ease of preparation and low cost. This review intends to summarize the analytical applications of LDHs based nanozymes. LDHs-based nanozymes are classified based on their structures into five categories of simple LDHs, simple LDHs with controlled morphology, exfoliated LDHs, LDHs with specific intercalation, and LDHs nanocomposites. Application of these nanozymes for optical sensing of different types of analytes such as H2O2, glucose, biomolecules, heavy metal ions, etc. is also covered. This review will hopefully inspire broader interests and stimulate further research in this field.
