Construction of 1D/2D BN/TiO2 nanostructures for efficient photocatalytic degradation of dyes

The 1D/2D BN/TiO2 nanostructure, constructed by incorporating BN whiskers into TiO2 nanosheets, shows significantly improved photocatalytic performance and cycling stability. The nanostructure with 12 wt% BN content exhibits a high degradation rate of RhB under visible-light irradiation.
Herein, the 1D/2D BN/TiO2 nanostructure was constructed by adding 1D BN whiskers into 2D TiO2 nanosheets via solvothermal method. The photocatalytic performance is investigated by degrading RhB under visible-light irradiation. The results indicate the photocatalytic performance of TiO2 is greatly improved by adding BN whiskers and the 1D/2D BN/TiO2 nanostructure with BN content of 12 wt% possesses good photocatalytic capacity with 99% degradation rate of RhB after 150 min. Besides, BN/TiO2 nanostructure exhibits excellent cycling stability. (C) 2021 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
