Experimental and theoretical study of new Schiff bases based on imidazo(1,2-a)pyridine as corrosion inhibitor of mild steel in 1M HCl

Summary: This study synthesized and characterized a new series of Schiff bases based on the imidazo(1,2a)pyridine scaffold, and evaluated their ability to inhibit mild steel corrosion in hydrochloric acid. The inhibitors were found to reduce the cathode area and their effectiveness increased with concentration. The adsorption of the inhibitors on the steel surface followed the Langmuir isotherm model, and a correlation was observed between the molecular structure of the inhibitors and their anti-corrosion activity.
