The new aerosol retrieval algorithm proposed in this study, based on BRDF shape parameters database and non-Lambertian forward model, significantly improves AOD retrieval accuracy. The algorithm has been validated on MODIS images in regions of China and the United States, showing enhanced accuracy compared to MODIS products.
