Binuclear Cobalt Paddlewheel-Type Complexes: Relating Metal-Metal Bond Lengths to Formal Bond Orders

Various metal oxidation states and spin multiplicities exhibit parallel trends, with formamidinate and guanidinate series showing marked resemblances. Deviations in trigonal complexes are attributed to lowered symmetry and inherent electronic structure, with distinct Co-Co bond lengths calculated based on formal bond order values.
