High temperatures enhance the microbial genetic potential to recycle C and N from necromass in high-mountain soils

Johanna Donhauser et al.

Summary: Research on high-mountain soils in the Swiss Alps shows that under high-temperature conditions, microbial communities exhibit higher activity, promoting bacterial growth and organic matter degradation. Additionally, at high temperatures, there is a shift in microbial N-cycling potential towards N mineralization and assimilation, with reduced potential for conversions among inorganic N forms.
