Indoor formaldehyde removal by catalytic oxidation, adsorption and nanofibrous membranes: a review

Catalytic oxidation of low concentration formaldehyde over Pt/TiO2 catalyst

Summary: The study showed that the increase in Pt content can enhance the quantity of active sites and oxygen vacancies of catalysts, promoting their performance. However, a further rise in Pt content leads to a decrease in specific surface area and Pt2+ species, resulting in a decrease in catalytic performance. Compared to rutile-supported catalysts, the anatase-supported Pt/α-TiO2 catalyst exhibited better catalytic performance due to its larger specific surface area, more Pt2+ phase, and easier formation of oxygen vacancies. The catalyst with 0.1 wt% Pt content supported by anatase TiO2 showed the best catalytic performance, achieving 98% HCHO conversion efficiency at 50°C and 100% at 100°C, with a stabilization time exceeding 140 hours.
