Solvent-free, one-pot synthesis of nitrogen-tailored alkali-activated microporous carbons with an efficient CO2 adsorption

Summary: A series of alkali-activated carbon materials with high specific surface area and large micropore volume were prepared in this study, showing high efficiency in CO2 adsorption. Materials with high basic nitrogen content exhibited the best adsorption performance, and micropore filling is one of the mechanisms for CO2 adsorption.

The sorbents exhibited excellent CO2 adsorption abilities, highlighting the significant potential of using waste plant resources for sustainable CO2 capture and other applications.
