Be aware of Shiga-toxin 2f-producing Escherichia coli: case report and false-negative results with certain rapid molecular panels

We report a hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) case due to Stx2f-producing E. coli illustrating the diagnostic dif-ficulty of this Shiga-toxin subtype. Clinicians should be aware of limits of certain rapid molecular panels that are increasingly being used and may play a role in underestimating the global burden of such infections.
