This paper studied the anisotropy of the recycled Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and as reinforcing fibres for concrete considering three experimental campaign e.g. uni-axial tension, pullout, and three point-bending. The study also relates parameters such as fibre position and embedded length. In total, 18 recycled PET samples with dog-bone shape are prepared for the uni-axial tension test, 54 samples (embedded recycled PET fibre in concrete) for the pullout test, and 12 recycled PET fibre reinforced concrete samples for the 3-point bending tests. The data were analysed using ANOVA and Tukey methods to get statistical confidence. Tensile results demonstrated anisotropy in recycled PET, but its effect was low in the recycled PET fibre-concrete interface behaviour. Also, the results show a weaker pullout capacity of the PET fibre-concrete interface than the PET tensile strength. The addition of recycled PET fibre showed about 6% increase in flexural strength of concrete. (C) 2020 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
