The Ce-doped UiO-67-400 catalyst was successfully synthesized and used for Fenton-like oxidation of methylene blue, showing a larger pore size and higher removal efficiency compared to non-doped catalyst. The results hold promise for potential applications in wastewater treatment research.
Fenton catalytic oxidation is an efficient and green method to remove pollutants, and the preparation of Fenton catalyst by MOF is a significant task. In this work, Ce-doped UiO-67-400 was successfully synthesized by introducing cerium into zirconium based UiO-67 skeleton by one-step hydrothermal synthesis approach followed by calcination at high temperature. The as-prepared samples were characterized by using the SEM, TEM, XRD, FT-IR, XPS and N-2 adsorption-desorption techniques. The synthesized materials were used as catalyst in the Fenton-like oxidation of methylene blue model reaction with H2O2 as an oxidant. The experimental results of the catalyst showed that the Ce-doped UiO-67-400 catalyst calcined at 400 degrees C has a larger pore size, which is conducive to H2O2 decomposition and OH catalysis of methylene blue as compared to non-doped one. Under the optimal conditions, methylene blue removal rate reached 94.1 % within 30 min. We hope that the results of the present work could play a significant role in the waste water treatment research avenue.
