Summary: With the passage of time from symptom onset, samples from SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR-positive patients showed increasing positivity. The sensitivity of EUROIMMUN, Roche, and Siemens assays reached 93.1% to 96.6%, 98.3%, and 96.6%, respectively, for patients with the latest sample collected 14 or more days after symptom onset, outperforming the DiaSorin assay at 87.7%. The specificity of Roche and Siemens assays was 100%, higher than DiaSorin and EUROIMMUN assays.

Seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 immunoglobulin antibodies in Wuhan, China: part of the city-wide massive testing campaign

Yunbao Pan et al.

Summary: A study was conducted to describe the screening results of 61,437 community members in Wuchang District, Wuhan, after a city-wide SARS-CoV-2 testing campaign in mid-May 2020. The study found that 1470 individuals tested positive for at least one antiviral antibody, indicating a low seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 in Wuhan.

Lack of Antibodies to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in a Large Cohort of Previously Infected Persons

Lyle R. Petersen et al.

Summary: A study found that approximately 1 in 16 individuals previously infected with SARS-CoV-2 lacked IgG antibodies. The absence of antibodies was influenced by illness severity, race/ethnicity, obesity, and immunosuppressive drug therapy, and the seronegative proportion remained relatively stable within 90 days post symptom onset.
