A highly green bio-organic catalyst known as Taurine (2-aminoethanesulfonic acid) is plentifully in the tissues of humans and animals and is an efficient and environmentally benign catalyst for the one-pot multicomponent reaction synthesis of bio-active 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones/thiones (Biginelli Reaction) in aqueous medium. The advantages of this protocol by way of the Taurine catalyst are that it is eco-friendly, commercially available, low cost, has high reusability, short reaction times, high yields and the products obtained high purities without using any organic solvents.
