Zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) was prepared by an easy static method and combined with conductive carbon nanofiber (CNF) to fabricate a novel electrochemical sensor for simultaneous detection of co-existing dihydroxybenzene isomers. The characterization of ZIF-8/CNF nanocomposite was performed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Under the optimized conditions, this proposed sensor showed excellent electrocatalytic activity with detection limits of 0.06 mu M, 0.08 mu M and 0.32 mu M (S/N= 3) for hydroquinone (HQ), catechol (CC) and resorcinol (RS) respectively and with a same linear concentration range of 2-400 mu M. In addition, it possessed great reproducibility, stability and selectivity and obtained satisfactory recovery results in real analysis of lake water and Yangtze River water.
