A new compound called nigerpiperazine A (1) was isolated from the fungus Aspergillus niger JX-5 found in mangrove Ceriops tagal. In addition, six known compounds were also identified. The structure of nigerpiperazine A (1) was determined using spectroscopic analysis and (13)C NMR chemical shift calculations. X-ray and CD spectra were used to confirm the structures of compounds 4 and 5. This study also discovered the inhibitory activities of compounds 1 and 4 against Helicoverpa armigera Hubner.
One new piperazinedione derivative, nigerpiperazine A (1), along with six known compounds (2-7) were isolated from the fungusAspergillus nigerJX-5 from mangroveCeriops tagal. Nigerpiperazine A (1) was elucidated by spectroscopic analyses and(13)C NMR chemical shift calculations, compounds4and5were determined by X-ray and the CD spectra. The absolute configuration of4was identified by X-ray for the first time. Compounds1and4showed inhibitory activities againstHelicoverpa armigeraHubner with the IC(50)values of 200 and 100 mu g/mL, respectively.
