In this research, a novel label-free fluorescent sensor for the determination of myricetin was designed based on carbon quantum dots (CQDs). The CQDs were prepared via green and straightforward microwave-assisted heating method using aspartic acid and urea as precursors. The prepared CQDs showed strong fluorescence and good solubility in water. The sensing principle of sensor is the quenching of CQDs fluorescence by myricetin via inner filter effect (IFE). The developed CQDs sensor was sensitive to myricetin with a wide linear detection range of 1 to 80 mu M and a low limit of detection (LOD) of 18.4 nM. The potential interfering substances showed no influence on the determination of myricetin. Furthermore, the proposed sensor based on CQDs was successfully applied for the determination of myricetin in red wine samples and exhibited simple operation, low cost and high accuracy. The results indicated our developed sensor based on CQDs has great application prospects for myricetin detection in real sample analysis.
