Protic ionic liquids/poly(vinylidene fluoride) composite membranes for fuel cell application

Isabel Vazquez-Fernandez et al.

Summary: Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) membranes as polymer electrolytes for fuel cells have attracted significant attention. This study investigated the effects of different solvents on the spherulite size and crystallinity of polymeric membranes, as well as the addition of two protic ionic liquids (PILs) to PVDF membranes. The results showed that the inclusion of a small amount of ionic liquids can increase the membrane's crystallinity, promote the production of polar crystals, and impact the proton conductivity mechanism and mechanical properties of the membranes.
