This study seeks to identify the influence of organizational compatibilities on green supply chain management (GSCM) efforts and estimate their influence on organizational performance. This study also explores the mediating influence of information technology (IT) capabilities on the association between GSMC efforts and organizational performance (operational, and environmental performance). The authors collected data online in order to examine 370 effective responses and verify the research hypothesis. The results show that the organizational compatibilities (technological, operational, and cultural) positively promote GSCM efforts and contribute to the expansion of dynamic capability theory in the context of IT capabilities. The results also indicate that IT capabilities are a key mediator that affects the association between GSCM efforts and organizational performance. These findings extend and improve the existing literature on GSCM efforts and provide scholars with a new perspective from which to further study this concept. (C) 2020 Elsevier Ltd.
