Adsorption removal of Ni(II) and phenol from aqueous solution by modified attapulgite and its composite hydrogel

Summary: Attapulgite (ATP) and its organically modified derivatives have been studied for potential environmental remediation applications, resulting in the synthesis of a composite hydrogel capable of adsorbing heavy metal ions Ni(II) and organic pollutant phenol. The modified ATP and composite hydrogel showed good adsorption properties for Ni(II) ions and phenol. Double-modification proved to be the most effective method for phenol adsorption, with optimal adsorption capacity obtained on PAAm/CTAB-HA-ATP hydrogel.
