Structural composites based on lignocellulosic fibers have gained attention because of their stress transfer within the matrix. The composition of these types of materials presents challenges as the traditional resins used to bond the fibers contain phenol and formaldehyde components that can be hazardous for humans. Therefore, methods that substitute or eliminate the use of these substances are of great interest for research and industry. The aim of this work was to study the addition of cellulose nanofibers either neat or modified with 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane or dodecanoyl chloride as fillers in binderless lignocellulosic multi-layered composites. Different properties related to such type of composites were measured and compared to evaluate the influence of these added nanocellulose layers as a substitute for traditional resins.
