The recent proliferation of wearable electronics has kindled an increasing demand for energy storage technology with flexibility, good levels of safety and high ionic conductivity. In this regard, flexible solid-state aqueous batteries are currently considered to be promising candidates as power supplies for wearable electronic devices. Recently, binder-free nanoarrayed composites have have shown great potential for use in high-performance flexible solid-state aqueous batteries due to the advantages of their short ion diffusion length, well-ordered structure, and large surface areas for abundant reaction sites. This review focuses on recent developments in nanoarrayed composites in terms of the design and delivery of advanced electrode materials in flexible solid-state aqueous batteries, including monovalent ion batteries, multivalent ion batteries, alkaline batteries, etc., with typical examples highlighted and discussed. Furthermore, we focus on the merits and challenges of nanoarrayed composites in relation to applications in the arena of flexible solid-state aqueous batteries.
