Citric acid-based deep eutectic solvent for the anthocyanin recovery from Hibiscus sabdariffa through microwave-assisted extraction

Ebru Kurtulbas et al.

Summary: In this study, bioactive ingredients were extracted from Hibiscus sabdariffa using microwave-assisted extraction (MAEX) and deep eutectic solvents (DES) based on citric acid. The optimal extraction conditions were determined using response surface methodology, resulting in high yields of phenolics, anthocyanins, and antioxidant activity.
