The charge carrier dynamics in hybrid perovskite solar cells (PSCs), especially the carrier generation, transfer, interface recombination, and collection, are in the femtosecond to millisecond range and are directly related to the final performance. Here the recent advances of the ultrafast dynamics of photoinduced charge carriers in perovskite thin films and PSCs are reviewed with an aim to the fundamental understanding from a microscopic level. The recent emerged ultrafast spectroscopy technologies are first presented. Starting with the electronic band structure that produced intense optical transitions and light harvesting, the physical characteristics are discussed, and the significants of regulation on these electronic dynamics are emphasized. Moreover, the carrier dynamics in recently emerged lead-free perovskites is also discussed. Finally, further prospects toward clarification of the relationship between the band-edge energy structure and the charge carrier dynamic process of PSCs are proposed.
