Effect of Eco-Friendly Chemical Treatment on the Properties of Sesbania Rostrata Fiber

K. Raja et al.

Summary: The green material consciousness has led to the introduction of natural fibers as reinforcement in polymer composites to replace synthetic fibers. Chemical treatment with sodium bicarbonate improved the mechanical strength and cellulose fraction of Sesbania rostrata fibers, increasing their crystallinity index and thermal stability. The optimal treatment duration was found to be 3 days, showing significant enhancements in the physical, chemical, mechanical, and thermal properties of the fibers.
