This work describes preparation of an electrochemical sensor based on composites of polybithiophene (PBTh) and palladium (Pd) microparticles, designed for the detection of glucose under alkaline conditions. The preparation method involved two-separated steps: First, the PBTh film was grown on an indium tin oxide substrate by oxidative polymerization of bithiophene in acetonitrile/lithium perchlorate electrolyte solution using cyclic voltammetry method. Second, Pd particles were electrodeposited on PBTh/ITO surface from a separate aqueous solution by chronoamperometry technique. The prepared Pd-PBTh/ITO sensor gives a linear response range from 0.04 to 0.4 mM with a sensitivity of 5.62 mA/mM cm(2) and a detection limit of 7 mu M. In addition, the sensor showed good selectivity to the target element and high stability.
