Experimental investigation on the effectiveness of MHTHS using different metal oxide-based nanofluids

G. Sriharan et al.

Summary: The thermal performance of a mini hexagonal tube heat sink (MHTHS) was experimentally investigated with Al2O3-DIW nanofluid showing higher heat transfer coefficient and effectiveness compared to other nanofluids. Increasing the volume flow rates of nanofluids in the hexagonal tube side while keeping a constant volume flow rate of hot DIW in the mini-passage side can further enhance the thermal performance of MHTHS.

Thermal radiation and surface roughness effects on the thermo-magneto-hydrodynamic stability of alumina-copper oxide hybrid nanofluids utilizing the generalized Buongiorno's nanofluid model

Abderrahim Wakif et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of thermal radiation and surface roughness on the dynamics of water conveying alumina and copper oxide nanoparticles. It found that increasing Lorentz forces, thermal radiation, and surface roughness enhanced the appearance of convection cells, while stability decreased with higher volumetric fraction and diameter of nanomaterials. Substituting alumina nanoparticles with copper oxide nanoparticles significantly stabilized the hybrid nanofluidic medium.

Summary: The study shows that using TiO2-H2O nanofluids in normal-channel heat sink can effectively reduce base temperature compared to water, with lower fabrication cost. However, normal-channel heat sink has higher pressure drop compared to mini-channel heat sink.
