A new Cd(II)-MOF [Cd(dcba)(DMA)]center dot DMA (1) (H(2)dcba: 1,1'-di(4-carbonylphenyl)-2,2'-biimidazoline, DMA: N,N-dimethylacetamide) was firstly synthesized and characterized by XRD. Complex 1 is an infinite three-dimensional porous coordination polymer based on {Cd-2} cores and dcba(2-) ligands, resulting in an 8-connected bcu topology. Luminescence study demonstrates that strong emission was observed from complex 1 in solid state at ambient temperature. Further luminescent properties demonstrate that acetone molecules can be selectively detected by 1 from several other normal solvents by fluorescence quenching effect.
