Use of a urease inhibitor to mitigate ammonia emissions from urine patches

Maria Jimena Rodriguez et al.

Summary: The study showed that applying urease inhibitors before urine deposition can effectively reduce ammonia volatilisation losses, while the effect of applying inhibitors after urine deposition is not significant. Additionally, using urease inhibitors also leads to a decrease in soil NH4+-N concentration and soil pH compared to urine alone or when inhibitors were applied after urine deposition.
