Toward development of single-atom ceramic catalysts for selective catalytic reduction of NO with NH3

Alexandre A. S. Goncalves et al.

Summary: Insertion of transition metal species into crystalline alumina at low temperatures allows for dispersion of the species at atomic level, leading to the fabrication of nanostructured ceramic catalysts with high specific surface area and pore volume for efficient SCR reactions. Catalysts containing Fe, Cu, or Mn showed the highest activities, while mixed compositions like CuFe and MnFe further tuned catalytic activity and selectivity. The formation profile of N2O did not change significantly for all metal aluminates except MnAl2O4, indicating their suitability for SCR and selective promotion of NO reduction.
