Evidence of distinct α-synuclein strains underlying disease heterogeneity

Sara A. M. Holec et al.

Summary: Synucleinopathies are neurodegenerative disorders caused by the misfolding of alpha-synuclein protein, with each disorder differing in various aspects. The strain hypothesis postulates that each synucleinopathy is caused by a unique alpha-synuclein structure. Different models have been established to evaluate the behavior of alpha-synuclein strains.
